At Stolt Tank Containers, we're committed to moving towards a more sustainable future. As a crucial component of this commitment, we provide alternative and less carbon-intensive transportation options and carbon tracking for our customers.
We are pleased to announce that you will now see estimates of greenhouse gas emissions for your shipments with Stolt Tank Containers. Even before you ship, your quote confirmation will show the estimated emissions, based on the selected route and modes of transport used, giving you transparent and accessible insights into the transportation’s carbon footprint to help you optimise your routing to minimise emissions.
This feature can help you fulfil annual or regulatory obligations, such as the European Union’s Non-financial Reporting Directive (NFRD) or the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), if relevant to your company.
Emissions are stated in "CO2e" (carbon dioxide equivalent) to enable you to compare and measure , in a consistent and standardized manner, the climate change impact of different greenhouse gases.
Optimised routing: identify better, sustainable transportation options
Optimise your tank routing for the lowest CO2 emissions through all modalities. For example, inland transport doesn’t always need to be by truck. In many locations, it can also be done by barge or rail, which have lower emissions. We also work with deep sea carriers and truckers that offer transportation options with alternative, low-emission fuels such as biofuels or LNG. Read more.
Conversion into sustainable ISO tank container
Transporting bulk liquids with ISO tank containers already minimises waste and emissions per mileage, compared to transport using drums, bottles, or flexi-bags. This is because tank containers are reusable over at least a 20-year lifespan, allowing each tank to carry many products during its lifecycle. And 90% of the materials they’re made from can be recycled and used for other items, making this option more circular than flexi-bags, for example.
