The EU ICS2 regulation will come into effect on June 3, 2024. On this page, we will provide regular updates on STC’s preparations to meet the requirements and to help ensure our customers are aware of their requirements.
What is the EU ICS2 regulation?
The ICS2 is the European Union’s (EU) new customs advance cargo information system that collects data about all goods that enter the EU prior to their arrival. All EU customs authorities will use this system to identify high-risk consignments more efficiently and to ensure security. ICS2 requirements apply to shipments imported to or through the EU, Northern Ireland, Norway or Switzerland.
What changes for STC’s customers?
Every STC customer shipping goods into the EU will need to provide us with all the required ICS2 information in their shipping instructions. This will enable STC and our chosen carriers to electronically file a complete ICS2 Entry Summary Declaration (ENS).
The ICS2 information customers need to provide in their shipping instructions is as follows:
• Full name and address of the consignee, including P.O. box number, postal code, sub-division code
• Economic Operator Registration and Identification (EORI) of the consignee
• Complete and accurate commercial description of goods
• Six-digit harmonised system code.
How is STC preparing to meet the regulation?
We understand it is crucial that we comply with this regulation, and we are currently updating our systems to ensure we are ready to provide the required additional information before the June 3 deadline. We are also setting up training for our export documentation teams to make sure they are aware of these new requirements and can support our customers with any ICS2 queries.
Please feel free to contact your STC representative if you have any questions. We will update you again before the EU ICS2 regulation comes into effect on June 3.
